At Balmoral Boards we’re stoked to introduce Burton’s new Step On boots for the 2026 season and there are two distinct personalities to choose from:
-
Waverange: Built for a smoother, more fluid ride. Think relaxed turns, carving groomers and just cruising around — a surf-in-the-mountains feel. The boot is tuned with a softer flex and greater articulation.
-
Highshot: Built for precision, edge control and serious all-mountain power. If you’re charging harder, carving deeper, demanding locked-in response this is your ride. The boot has a stiffer construction, more support and quicker reaction.
The Three Performance Tiers (for both Waverange & Highshot)
Both boot families follow a “Good / Better / Best” structure so you pick the model that suits your budget, riding level and features you want.
1. Entry Tier (Step On)
-
Single-dial BOA® Sequence fit system.
-
Imprint™ 2 liner.
-
Intended for riders who want the Step On convenience and solid performance without going full top-end.
2. Mid Tier (X Step On)
-
Dual-Zone BOA® fit system - two boas: upper & lower zone.
-
Upgraded liner - Imprint™ 3 and better outsole compound (Vibram® traction lug) with improved grip.
-
Waverange X: softer flex version of this tier; Highshot X: firmer flex version tuned for performance.
3. Top Tier (X Pro Step On)
-
Triple-Dial BOA® PerformFit™ Wrap system - three independent zones: upper, lower, liner/heel.
-
Premium liner (Asym Life Liner), advanced outsole (Vibram® EcoStep Plus) and highest level of adjustability and support.
-
For riders who demand the best in fit, control and performance.
Which tier & model for you?
-
If you ride most all-mountain terrain, like a more playful feel, want comfort and ease: go Waverange, in whichever tier matches your budget.
-
If you charge hard, carve aggressively, want maximum support and responsiveness: go Highshot, and if you’re serious consider the X or X Pro tier.
-
Entry tier is a great value; X tier gives you more features; X Pro is premium.
At Balmoral Boards we can help you try them on, feel the flex difference, and get the right one for your shape and riding style.
